Courses & Training
In 2010 the Club achieved recognition as an RYA Training Centre. We can provide instruction, and award certificates for adult dinghy course levels 1 to 2, and youth dinghy courses stages 1 to 4, together with Dinghy Seamanship Skills and Assistant Instructor and Dinghy Instructor qualifications. We are also able to provide First Aid courses.
We offer more informal training sessions such as: Sailing Skills Days (for less experienced adults and children); Get Back on the Water Days; Racing Rules Clinics; Patrol Boat familiarization sessions, and modules on Day Sailing, Start Racing, and Use of Spinnakers.
The Training Centre Operating Procedures can be downloaded from this page (see below).
Our training is only offered to members, but the charge for participation is kept as low as possible, typically £30 for a half-day session. Our Training Programme, detailing the courses, can be downloaded from here when available (see below). You can also find out more about course content etc. from the RYA website by following this link:
For more information about training specifically aimed at children, see our Junior Sailing page on this site.
