Another successful Swallows & Amazons weekend……………..

Over 30 excited children waited anxiously to know if our trip from Yarmouth to Newtown, when we camp overnight then return the following day, would go ahead.

The weather played its usual tricks on us, and right up to the last moment we were not sure if we would be able to sail back from Newtown on the Sunday, as the predicted winds were at the top of F4 gusting F5 – too much for some of our young sailors with the wind against tide. Luckily, the wind strength abated and despite the drift down on the tide to Newtown on the Saturday, Sunday’s conditions were perfect, providing exciting but manageable sailing in the sunshine for the eleven dinghies, ranging from a Bahia, RS Quests & RS Feva to a Topper and Scows.

In all, over 70 YSC members enjoyed a memorable weekend of games, barbecues, sailing and camping!
